
02 Feb Request for Proposals 2025 Mowing and Landscaping
Request for Proposals: Steep Rock Association, Inc. (SRA) is seeking proposals to manage our mowing, weed whacking, and general landscaping needs at two locations for the 2025 season.
Steep Rock Center for Conservation (116 and 124 Christian Street, New Preston CT):
Mowing and Weed Whacking
• On a weekly basis, mowing and trim work on approximately 2.3 acres, including around the Steep Rock Office (116 Christian Street) and Isaac Camp House Education Center and Museum (124 Christian Street).
• Mowing will include the outer perimeter of Judea Garden, the StoryWalkTrail at the rear of the properties to Adams Bridge, and around the Macricostas main parking lot.
• Weekly mowing schedule to be negotiated with Steep Rock staff.
• Mowing does not include inside the Judea Garden fence or past Adams bridge.
• Weed whacking and cleanup (leaf blowing of grass clumps and removal of branches and other debris) around the two buildings, sheds, pavilion, mailbox, parking areas, kiosk, Millington bench, and bee hives.
Steep Rock Preserve Riding Ring and Parking Area (2 Tunnel Road, Washington Depot, CT)
Riding Ring Mowing and Weed Whacking:
• On a bi-weekly basis, mowing approximately 2.75 acres including the field adjacent the parking lot, kiosk area, picnic benches up to the big oak and a strip around riding ring perimeter.
• Interior of horse riding ring, horse jump trails, and area south of the ring up to the gravel cache mowed bi-weekly.
• Weed whacking and debris removal includes parking lot area, kiosk, Holiday House trail head at the parking lot and around the riding ring as needed.
Requirements
• Steep Rock Association will not provide mowers or equipment
• General liability insurance and Certificate of Insurance. Contract will name Steep Rock Association as an additional insured on policy
• OSHA compliance statement
• Steep Rock reserves the right to restrict some areas for mowing as well as request changes to mowing schedule as needed.
Payment Terms and Billing Instructions
Steep Rock Association will process payment in accordance with the vendor’s payment terms upon receipt of a valid and accurate invoice. Invoices must be submitted electronically to accounts@steeprockassoc.org for processing. Any discrepancies or incomplete invoices may result in processing delays.
