Acts of Love: 100 Years of Caring for the Land

As Steep Rock Association celebrates its centennial, I’ve been reflecting on the acts of love that have shaped our organization—acts of love meaning the choices we make that benefit people, our community, and the Earth.

Your support of Steep Rock—through your giving, volunteering, and advocacy—is an act of love. Because of you, Steep Rock is stronger, and this community is better.

Our founder, Ehrick Rossiter, made one of the first great acts of love when he donated the original 100 acres that became Steep Rock Preserve in 1925. His vision was simple but profound: to protect land so that people could find peace, beauty, and renewal in nature. A century later, that same spirit of generosity continues through you.

Every act of care—planting a tree, building a trail, protecting a river, or teaching a child about nature—is part of this enduring legacy. Thank you for continuing this remarkable story of love for the land and for one another.
