The Project

Steep Rock Honey is a non-profit project conceived of and led by Kirsten Feldman, a Steep Rock Trustee, who keeps bees at her home in Washington. Our goal is to create a source of support for maintenance of Steep Rock trails while raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity and the health of bees and other species. Steep Rock receives all proceeds from sales of the honey.

Our Hives

We currently maintain hives in seven locations in the Town of Washington. Each location has its own microclimate, soil and flora.

Honey is Like Fine Wine, and Flowers Are Our Grapes

Each batch contains pollens and nectars of the forage within three miles of the hive. And since each vintage or appellation has its own unique microclimate, soil, and flora, you can enjoy and compare the unique flavor of each terroir, just as you would do in a wine.
