Eagle Scout candidate Isaac Fitch took on an ambitious project this fall—replacing the 24-foot bridge on the River’s Edge Loop in Steep Rock Preserve. The original bridge, identified in SRA’s annual engineering report as needing replacement, was an essential link along the popular trail.
Isaac designed a new, sturdier bridge and led Troop 65 in deconstructing the old structure and installing the new one last weekend. The project required careful planning, engineering skill, and teamwork to ensure the bridge’s safety and longevity for future hikers.
In total, Troop 65 scouts and leaders contributed 91 hours of volunteer service, demonstrating remarkable dedication and community spirit. Their efforts not only improved trail access but also embodied the values of stewardship and service that define both the Scouting and Steep Rock communities.
SRA extends heartfelt thanks to Isaac, Troop 65, and all who helped make this project a success—helping ensure safe passage for hikers and preserving the integrity of our trail network for years to come.
