Steep Rock Association is celebrating 100 years of conserving our natural surroundings and is inviting interested artists to take part in a juried exhibition of landscapes inspired by our preserves: Hidden Valley, Steep Rock, Macricostas, West Mountain and the Judea Garden.
We want to celebrate the flora, fauna, structures and trails of these precious natural spaces. Please only submit work directly inspired by or showing views and sights of the Steep Rock Preserves.
NON-REFUNDABLE ENTRY FEE: $25 for up to 3 submissions.
WHERE: Work will be displayed at Spring Hill Vineyards and will be open during their wine tasting events: Fridays, 5pm-8pm, Saturdays and Sundays, 12pm-5pm.
DATES: Friday, September 5 through Sunday, September 28.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: Sunday, August 24.
NOTIFICATION: ONLY Accepted artists will be contacted by Tuesday, August 26.
RECEPTION: An artist reception will take place on Saturday, September 13, 3:00pm – 5:00pm.
WORK: Two dimensional paintings, works on paper or photography.
RECEIVING: Accepted artwork should be delivered to the barn at Spring Hill Vineyard (292 Bee Brook Rd., New Preston, CT) during one of the following time slots:
Tuesday, September 2, from 2–4 PM
Wednesday, September 3, from 10 AM–12 PM
All pieces must be labeled with the artist’s name, title of the work, and cell phone number, securely attached using painter’s tape.
SALES: Steep Rock is not involved in any part of the sales process. Artists will receive a total amount of sale price and will be contacted directly via text or email by potential buyers. Artists are responsible for receiving payment and arranging for work to be picked up at the end of the exhibition.
GALLERY SITTING: In lieu of a commission, Steep Rock is requesting artists volunteer to gallery sit for a block of time during exhibition hours. Sign up schedule will be sent to accepted artists.
PUBLICITY: By submitting your art images, you agree that selected work may be used for publicity purposes to promote this exhibit. We strongly suggest artists promote the exhibition through their own networks and social media platforms.
PICK UP: All work MUST be picked up on Monday, September 29, 10am – 12pm or Tuesday, September 30, 2pm – 4pm. No exceptions please.
